Try Something New?!?- Monday is All Souls Day. We have a pastorate-wide Remembrance Mass at 6:30 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church that evening followed by a reception. The 6:30 time is later choice to allow time for travel for those further from Hiawatha. Be sure to write the names of your departed loved ones on the parchments at each parish this weekend. Invitations have been sent to families who have lost loved ones in the past year. Come, join with them and one another for this special event. Even better, call and offer them a ride as their companion. Don’t let distance or the worry of being in a new place discourage them. You can help make this happen.
Christmas Mass Schedule Announced! - I’m happy to announce our Christmas schedule. I know this seems early, but it’s necessary for our priests and other liturgical ministries to be planning ahead, so of course we want you to know as well. This year, we are able to have Masses at all of our pastorate parishes at Christmas. That’s good news. The schedule is very similar to times in previous years. Please know this is our pastorate schedule. You are welcome to attend any of our pastorate Christmas Masses.

Our pastorate, the Cedar Rapids Area North Pastorate is seeking a full-time Director of Operations to serve as a key member of the pastorate leadership team. Rooted in the Catholic faith, the Director of Operations provides leadership and oversight for the operational and financial functions of the pastorate, including finance, human resources, facilities, administration, and organizational systems.
Working closely with the pastor and pastorate leadership team, the Director of Operations will help establish consistent practices across pastorate locations, strengthen accountability and stewardship, support employees, and help guide the operational transition to a unified pastorate.
Candidates must be practicing faithful Catholics who respect and support Church teaching, worship regularly, and have a passion for furthering the mission of Jesus Christ. A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field is preferred. The position prefers 7–10 years of leadership experience in operations, business administration, human resources, finance, or a related field, along with experience managing multi-site operations or complex organizational structures.

Each year on All Souls’ Day, we gather to pray for our departed friends and loved ones. In faith, we entrust them to God’s mercy, believing that life is changed, not ended, and that beyond death we continue our journey of purification and growth in holiness. This year, we are having a pastorate-wide Mass of Remembrance on Monday, 11/02, at 6:30pm at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. During this Mass, we will remember in a special way parishioners from throughout the pastorate who have passed away this past year. All are invited to come and pray for our deceased and to support one another in grief. Strengthened by hope, we look forward to the day when we will be reunited with them in the glory of the Resurrection and the joy of the heavenly banquet.
Advent Giving Tree Project
St. Elizabeth parishioners have helped hundreds of struggling families share in the joy of Christmas through our Advent Giving Tree. The Faith In Action Committee will again partner with the local “Toys for Tots” chapter to collect toys for local children. The Toys for Tots organization accept applications from parents to ‘shop’ in their Christmas Store filled with donations. They ask for toys and stocking stuffers priced $5 to $35 for individuals newborn to 14 years old. No clothing please.We will also be helping our parish families, the Catholic Worker House, Tanager Place, and St Vincent de Paul with gifts, gift cards and food.
The Advent Giving Tree and mittens will be set up in the window walkway November 13th - November 29th. Gifts must be returned by November 30th.
We will have one bulk delivery of the Toys for Tots gifts on Thursday, December 3rd to a donation truck at the local Fleet Farm. If you would like to help deliver to Fleet Farm, show up at 10 AM. We will meet by the tree.

As election day approaches on November 3rd, please make sure to get out and vote. Let us remember that as we face many challenges today, the Church serves the people of God by helping to transform society as leaven in a world in need. The US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) offers a teaching document, Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, and accompanying resources to help guide us to put faith before politics.

The Saints Shop will also be open this evening.
